The Royston Elementary School community recognizes the importance of parental involvement to reach the individual needs of our students for the completion of the goals set within our instructional plan. In an effort to facilitate this involvement, a plan has been formulated and is outlined in this report. Educational research clearly shows that parents who are actively involved in their child's learning help him/her to become a more successful learner in and out of school (Riley). In our efforts to improve student achievement, Royston Elementary School has established objectives and will implement strategies to increase parent and community involvement within the school.

 

Royston Elementary School's goal is to always promotes parental and community involvement. Our school offers activities for these stakeholders to be actively involved in the education process. Our School Climate Committee and our Parental Involvement Committee are responsible for offering opportunities for parent participation.

 

Our School Climate Committee will provide the following opportunities:

  • Open House/Ice Cream Social
  • First Day Celebration
  • RES Tailgate Party
  • Fall Festival
  • Christmas Program
  • Dr. Seuss Night
  • Spring Fling
  • Field Day
  • Honors Day
  • Newsletters
  • Special Luncheons (Grandparent, Thanksgiving, and Christmas)
  • Fundraisers

 

Our Parental Involvement Committee will provide the following opportunities:

·      Parent Lending Library

·      Parent Instructional Workshops (3)

·      Parental Involvement Plan

·      Monthly Calendar/RES Website/E-mail

·      School Council
